About AlaskaLoan
Alaska's loan guide — editorial answers for AHFC programs, VA borrowers, bush property, seasonal income, and PFD season.
Why this site exists
National personal-finance sites write about loans for a generic American borrower. Alaska isn't generic: the state runs its own housing finance corporation, one of the highest veteran shares in the country changes the mortgage mix, huge areas have no borough property tax at all, and much of the state's income arrives seasonally — from fishing, the Slope, and tourism. AlaskaLoan covers the lending questions those realities create.
What we do — and don't do
We publish editorial content only: guides, comparisons, and calculators.
- We are not a lender, mortgage broker, or lead generator.
- We never collect loan applications or borrower information — no income, credit, or loan-amount forms, anywhere on the site. The only form on the site is a newsletter signup that asks for an email address and nothing else.
- Some comparison pages contain affiliate links to licensed lenders. When you click one, you leave our site and apply on the lender's own site. Affiliate relationships never change our rankings or coverage — see how we make money.
- We never publish payday-loan content or offers.
The author
AlaskaLoan is written and reviewed by the AlaskaLoan Editorial Team, edited from Alaska. Every article carries a byline and a last-reviewed date, and rate-sensitive content is refreshed quarterly per our editorial policy.
Sources we rely on
We cite primary sources — the institutions that actually run the programs we describe:
- Alaska Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC)
- Alaska Division of Banking & Securities
- Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)
