Editorial policy
Finance content is held to the highest quality bar — by search engines and by readers. Here's how we hold ourselves to it.
What we publish
AlaskaLoan publishes educational guides, comparison pages, and calculators about loans for Alaskans. We do not publish individualized financial advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to take a specific loan, from a specific lender, at a specific time — it's context to help you evaluate your own situation, ideally alongside a qualified professional.
Research and sourcing
- Articles are researched against primary sources: the agencies and institutions that run the programs we describe (AHFC, VA, SBA, CFPB, Alaska state agencies, borough assessors).
- Primary sources are cited at the end of every article.
- We avoid repeating claims from other publishers without checking them against a primary source.
- Where a program detail changes frequently (rates, income caps, fee schedules), we describe the mechanics and point you to the current official page rather than freezing a number that will go stale.
Review cadence
- Every article shows its author and a last-reviewed date.
- Rate-sensitive content (mortgage content, comparison pages, calculator data) is reviewed quarterly.
- The mortgage calculator's borough property-tax table is a versioned data file with per-borough source citations, re-verified against assessor data on the same cadence.
Affiliate independence
Some comparison pages contain affiliate links — marked sponsored nofollow — through which we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Editorial decisions are made before, and independently of, monetization:
- Rankings and evaluations are never sold or influenced by commission rates.
- Categories and evaluation criteria are chosen editorially; affiliate availability doesn't change what we cover.
- We never publish payday-loan offers regardless of what they pay.

Corrections
If we got something wrong, we want to fix it. Email hello@alaskaloan.com — corrections are made in place, and material corrections are noted on the page.
